4th of July

On the 4th of July we got up bright and early to run in the 5k. Me, my mom and dad, Kristi, Stacy, Taylor, and Noelle all ran it this year.
Matt, Oakley, and Addi went about 1/2 way along the course to provide us water.

After the 5k was the kid's 1 mile fun run. Jensen was the only one who ran it this year and she did awesome. She's a really great athlete.
After the 5k and breakfast we hurried home to shower and get ready for the rest of the day. Then we headed down to the South Chapel lawn to reserve our traditional spot for watching the parade.

It wouldn't be a 4th of July parade without the Gadianton Band!

Addi, Oakley, and Lexi hung out by the curb to get lots of candy.

Jensen was able to ride a horse in the parade with Camryn's 4H group. Her horse got spooked by the Gadianton Band and Jensen was pretty nervous but she did great.

The kids always love getting soaked by the fire truck and cooling off.

After the parade we headed down to the park for the booths. If you saw my post of the 4th of July last year you'll remember that Jensen climbed a greased pole and won $10. Well, she did it again this year but the prize had gone down to only $5, still not bad. The girl's a monkey I tell you.

After several hours at the park and a nap at home we headed back down to the park for the fire works. There was a live band and it was a lot of fun to sit and relax and listen to the music.
The city handed out free 3D glasses to watch the fireworks with.
Everyone modeling their glasses.
Every year there are several people selling glow necklaces and our kids beg us to buy them. This year we got smart and bought a whole bunch before the 4th and let the kids sell them. Jensen was a great salesman and sold 40-45 of them. Of course the kids all wanted to keep some for themselves.

There is no place better to be than Blanding for the 4th of July!
